Congratulations to Vang Vang, a Madden librarian in Research Services, on receiving the Extraordinary Teaching in Extraordinary Times Award from the Provost. This award was conceived to recognize faculty who have gone out of their way to educate, advise, mentor and care for their students during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the nomination letter from the College of Social Sciences, Vang was noted as “a phenomenal librarian who brings compassion and innovation to every aspect of her work.”
Some of the examples of Vang’s work with students includes ways in which our librarians partner with the colleges to engage students, provide integral materials and supportive instruction in research and project, and maintaining accessibility in our remote learning environment.
[Vang] engages students in special projects that are highly innovative and promote student
academic success. One example is the Summerset StoryCloth project that brings together students,
faculty, and residents to honor and uplift local history. Ms. Vang is working with students to add the
project to Special Collections. They are deeply engaged and thriving even during the pandemic.
Congratulations to Vang for being recognized for your hard work toward student success!
