It is hard to believe that we have been in the renovated Henry Madden Library for ten years!
Since the Henry Madden Library reopened, our building has become so much more than a place to study. As student needs have evolved, so has the Library’s programs and services. Knowledge isn’t simply stored here now, it is created.
We have been making small improvements since the Library reopened. We have begun to discuss the need for more extensive changes in the public spaces of the building. We continue to support standards-based information literacy proficiency at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our collections are strong and we can deliver them to our patrons when and where they need them.
Today in the Library, you will see collaborative study pods filled with students brainstorming their latest class projects. You will see more than 140 computers with the latest software to create videos, design digital artwork or record podcasts.
But even more can be done to truly make this the Library of the future. We are actively investing in new technology to aid our students in their work and provide access to the tools they will need to know in their future careers. These include plans for an interactive visualization wall, one button studio for easy video recording and a renovated Music & Media lab.
We are excited for the future of our Library, and we are proud that ten years later, our now iconic Library continues to be the intellectual and cultural center of Fresno State, where students can create, discover and grow.
